Software development & integration

Make the idea
work in practice

Build focused software that solves an operational problem. We shape requirements, create prototypes and develop tools and integrations with a clear route to testing, ownership and ongoing support

The challenge we help you solve

Close the gap between an idea and a useful tool

The first question is what people need to do differently. From there, we can shape a prototype, test the flow and make deliberate decisions about data, access, implementation and support

Expertise shaped around your environment

Build software around the work people need to do. EQ Solutions helps shape, develop and integrate applications, internal tools and workflow automation that address a defined business problem. We connect the user experience to data, access, testing and operation from the beginning, so a useful prototype has a considered route into everyday use. Features, interfaces, environments and ongoing responsibilities are agreed for each engagement

The work behind
the result

Explore the workstreams we can bring into your engagement, from the first assessment through implementation and ownership

01

Discovery and a useful delivery brief

Turn an idea or recurring operational problem into a clear brief that people can assess before committing to a broader build

  • Explore the current workflow with users and identify the problem a tool needs to solve
  • Define the users, use cases, boundaries and acceptance criteria for the first useful version
  • Review source data, system dependencies, access needs and constraints
  • Create a prioritised backlog that separates essential behaviour from possible later improvements
02

Prototypes and user experience

Make the proposed experience tangible so teams can test the flow and identify important decisions while changes are still straightforward

  • Create a focused prototype around the main task or decision
  • Design useful navigation, forms, feedback and error states for the intended audience
  • Review keyboard use, legibility and accessibility requirements with the agreed criteria
  • Test the prototype with representative users and feed findings into the delivery brief
03

Applications and operational tools

Develop the agreed behaviour in manageable increments, keeping working software and user feedback close to the delivery decisions

  • Implement the agreed application, internal tool or reporting workflow
  • Build data validation, useful error messages and access checks into the relevant user paths
  • Keep configuration, code and changes under appropriate version control and review
  • Demonstrate working increments and record acceptance feedback and outstanding work
04

APIs and system integration

Connect tools through explicit data and interface rules, with a plan for what happens when a system is unavailable or a record is incomplete

  • Assess supported interfaces, permissions and vendor restrictions before choosing an integration approach
  • Define data mappings and API contracts, using OpenAPI where appropriate
  • Implement agreed event-driven or scheduled exchanges with validation, duplicate prevention and retry handling
  • Record failed transfers and reconciliation checks so owners can investigate and recover the flow
05

Testing and release automation

Give the team evidence that the software behaves as agreed, and a repeatable way to build and release changes

  • Design tests around the critical behaviour, integration boundaries and likely failure cases
  • Automate relevant build and test steps within the agreed delivery pipeline
  • Review performance, access and security requirements within the defined scope
  • Prepare deployment steps, release checks and a recovery approach for the target environment
06

Operation and knowledge transfer

Make the delivered tool understandable to the people who will own it, with support and maintenance expectations discussed before handover

  • Document architecture, configuration, data flows and important implementation decisions
  • Add agreed logging, health checks and operational guidance
  • Walk maintainers through the code, release process and common support scenarios
  • Record ownership, known limitations and a prioritised backlog for future changes

Your delivery journey

From understanding
to usable capability

Agree the scope, responsibilities and review points at the start, then make progress visible through working outputs and evidence

  1. 01

    Define

Agree the user need, boundaries, constraints and success criteria.

  2. 02

    Prototype

Test a focused version before extending the scope.

  3. 03

    Build

Implement and validate the agreed behaviour and data flows.

  4. 04

    Handover

Document ownership, support, maintenance and next improvements.

Evidence and acceptance

Clear checkpoints
before the next step

Review what has been delivered, the decisions still needed and who will own the result

  1. A brief people can agree

Review the user need, prototype, acceptance criteria, data access and integration dependencies before approving the implementation scope

  2. Behaviour demonstrated and tested

Show the critical user journey and data flow working in an agreed environment, including error handling, with test evidence and outstanding issues available for review

  3. A considered route into use

Review deployment, access, monitoring, documentation and support ownership before release, then hand over the agreed source and operating material

Questions about this service

More detail
before you decide

Bring your current environment, challenge and priorities to the first conversation

Discuss this service
What types of software can an engagement cover?

Scope can include focused business applications, internal tools, visual reporting dashboards, API integrations and workflow automation. We first assess the user need, existing systems and delivery constraints to choose an appropriate approach

Can you integrate our existing tools?

We assess the supported interfaces, licences, permissions, data quality and vendor constraints first. An integration is scoped against those findings rather than assuming that every product exposes the access or behaviour required

Can you improve an existing application?

Yes, subject to access to the code and environments and a review of their condition. We can agree a focused change, integration or maintainability backlog while identifying constraints that affect the work

Who owns the source code and the finished tool?

Source ownership, intellectual property, third-party components and access to repositories are agreed in the engagement terms. Handover material and the people responsible for maintenance are defined as part of that discussion

What happens after the software is released?

The delivery scope defines the handover and any agreed support period. Ongoing hosting, maintenance, incident response and future enhancements are discussed explicitly, with owners and responsibilities recorded
